The answer to your question would be divided as yes and no.
Yes, because you will be buying something that will last for a lifetime, and in case of a diamond ring, you can enjoy wearing it everyday.
While on the other hand diamonds are not a good investment, if you plan to buy a diamond, and lock it away in a dark safe deposit box it would be of no use.
